I said, "Messenger of Allah, I hunt with my trained dog and with my dog that is not trained."He said, "Whatever you catch with your trained dog, mention the name of Allah over it and eat it. And whatever you catch with your untrained dog, if you reach it in time to slaughter it properly, then eat it."
حدثنا هناد بن السري عن ابن المبارك عن حيوة بن شريح قال سمعت ربيعة بن يزيد الدمشقي يقول أخبرني أبو إدريس الخولاني عائذ الله قال سمعت
قلت يا رسول الله إني أصيد بكلبي المعلم وبكلبي الذي ليس بمعلم قال ما صدت بكلبك المعلم فاذكر اسم الله وكل وما أصدت بكلبك الذي ليس بمعلم فأدركت ذكاته فكل
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hunting and Slaughtered Animals, chapter on hunting with trained dogs and shooting, hadith no. 1930, from Hannad bin Sari. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Slaughtered Animals and Hunting, chapter on what has been said about hunting, hadith no. 5488, through the hadith of Ibn Mubarak, with the same wording.
