I asked the Prophet ﷺ, "We hunt with these dogs of ours."He said to me, "When you release your trained dogs and mention the name of Allah over them, then eat from what they catch for you, even if it has been killed, unless the dog has eaten from it. If the dog has eaten from it, then do not eat, for I fear that it caught it only for itself."
حدثنا هناد بن السري حدثنا ابن فضيل عن بيان عن عامر
سألت النبي ﷺ قلت إنا نصيد بهذه الكلاب فقال لي إذا أرسلت كلابك المعلمة وذكرت اسم الله عليها فكل مما أمسكن عليك وإن قتل إلا أن يأكل الكلب فإن أكل الكلب فلا تأكل فإني أخاف أن يكون إنما أمسكه على نفسه
Narrated by Muslim, hadith: 2/1929, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Fudayl bin Ghazwan, see hadith 5484 above, and by Bukhari, Slaughtering and Hunting, chapter on hunted game when it disappears for two or three days, hadith of Amir Shaybi through him.
