The Jews came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "We eat what we kill, but we do not eat what Allah kills." So Allah revealed, "And do not eat of that over which the name of Allah has not been mentioned" [Anam 6:121], to the end of the verse.

[Its chain of transmission is daif] It was narrated by Tirmidhi, tafsir of the Quran, chapter on Surah Anam, hadith no. 3069, from the hadith of Ata bin Saaib, and he was among those whose memory became confused, and it is not established that he narrated this before his confusion set in. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan gharib."
