The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sacrifice a horned, vigorous ram that looked through black, ate through black, and walked through black.
حدثنا يحيى بن معين حدثنا حفص عن جعفر عن أبيه
كان رسول الله يضحي ﷺ بكبش أقرن فحيل ينظر في سواد ويأكل في سواد ويمشي في سواد
[Sahih] Reported by Tirmidhi in the Book of Sacrifices, chapter on what is recommended regarding sacrificial animals, no. 1496, and Nasai, no. 4395, and Ibn Majah, no. 3128, from the hadith of Hafs bin Ghiyath through this chain. Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih gharib, and it has a corroborating witness in Muslim, no. 1967.
