The Prophet ﷺ would only return from a journey during the daytime. Hasan said, in the forenoon. When he returned from a journey, he would come to the mosque, pray two units of prayer in it, and then sit there.

أن النبي ﷺ كان لا يقدم من سفر إلا نهارا قال الحسن في الضحى فإذا قدم من سفر أتى المسجد فركع فيه ركعتين ثم جلس فيه
Its isnad is sahih, previously mentioned at hadith 2773. Bukhari also related it in the book of jihad and expeditions, chapter on the prayer performed upon returning from a journey, hadith 3088, from the report of Ibn Jurayj, and Muslim related it, hadith 2769, from the report of Ibn Shihab Zuhri, with the same wording. It is also found in Musannaf Abdul-Razzaq, hadith 4864.
