We arrived just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had completed the conquest of Khaybar. He allotted us a share, or he said, he gave us a portion of its spoils. He did not assign any share of those spoils to anyone who had been absent from the conquest of Khaybar except those present with him, apart from the companions of our ship, Jafar and his companions, for he allotted them a share along with the others.
حدثنا محمد بن العلاء قال حدثنا أبو أسامة حدثنا بريد عن أبي بردة
قدمنا فوافقنا رسول الله ﷺ حين افتتح خيبر فأسهم لنا أو قال فأعطانا منها وما قسم لأحد غاب عن فتح خيبر منها شيئا إلا لمن شهد معه إلا أصحاب سفينتنا جعفر وأصحابه فأسهم لهم معهم
May Allah be pleased with them. Reference, Bukhari narrated it, Al-Maghazi, chapter on the Battle of Khaybar, no. 4233, and Muslim, The Virtues of the Companions, chapter on the virtues of Jafar bin Abu Talib and Asma bint Umays and the people of their ship, may Allah be pleased with them, no. 2502, from the hadith of Buraid, with the same wording.
