We set out with Abu Bakr, whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had appointed as our commander. We raided the tribe of Fazara and launched a sweeping attack against them. Then I caught sight of a group of people that included women and children. I shot an arrow which landed between them and the mountain, and they stood still. I brought them to Abu Bakr. Among them was a woman from Fazara wearing a worn leather garment, and with her was her daughter, one of the most beautiful women among the Arabs. Abu Bakr awarded her daughter to me as a special share.I returned to Madina, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me and said to me, "Salama, give me the woman."I said, "By Allah, she has caught my fancy, but I have not yet uncovered her garment."He remained silent. The next day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me in the market and said, "Salama, give me the woman, may Allah bless your father."I said, "Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I have not uncovered her garment, and she is yours."He sent her to the people of Makka, who held some Muslim captives, and ransomed those captives in exchange for that woman.
حدثنا هارون بن عبد الله قال حدثنا هاشم بن القاسم قال حدثنا عكرمة قال حدثني إياس بن سلمة قال
خرجنا مع أبي بكر وأمره علينا رسول الله ﷺ فغزونا فزارة فشننا الغارة ثم نظرت إلى عنق من الناس فيه الذرية والنساء فرميت بسهم فوقع بينهم وبين الجبل فقاموا فجئت بهم إلى أبي بكر فيهم امرأة من فزارة وعليها قشع من أدم معها بنت لها من أحسن العرب فنفلني أبو بكر ابنتها فقدمت المدينة فلقيني رسول الله ﷺ فقال لي يا سلمة هب لي المرأة فقلت والله لقد أعجبتني وما كشفت لها ثوبا فسكت حتى إذا كان من الغد لقيني رسول الله ﷺ في السوق فقال يا سلمة هب لي المرأة لله أبوك فقلت يا رسول الله والله ما كشفت لها ثوبا وهي لك فبعث بها إلى أهل مكة وفي أيديهم أسرى ففاداهم بتلك المرأة
