The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Abdullah bin Ghalib al-Laythi out with a raiding party, and I was among them. He ordered them to launch a raid against Banu Mulawwih at al-Kadid. We set out, and when we reached al-Kadid we came upon Harith bin Barsa al-Laythi and seized him.He said, "I have only come seeking Islam. I was on my way to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."We said, "If you are a Muslim, our binding you for a day and a night will do you no harm, and if you are otherwise, we will secure you." So we tied him up firmly.

بعث رسول الله ﷺ عبد الله بن غالب الليثي في سرية وكنت فيهم وأمرهم أن يشنوا الغارة على بني الملوح بالكديد فخرجنا حتى إذا كنا بالكديد لقينا الحارث بن البرصاء الليثي فأخذناه فقال إنما جئت أريد الإسلام وإنما خرجت إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقلنا إن تكن مسلما لم يضرك رباطنا يوما وليلة وإن تكن غير ذلك نستوثق منك فشددناه وثاقا

Ahmad narrated it (3/467) from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq, with this wording, and he stated explicitly that he heard it directly.Muslim bin Abdullah bin Habib Juhani is unknown (as stated in Taqrib), and there is another defect in it as well.Abdullah bin Ghalib, its correct form is Ghalib bin Abdullah, as found in Sirah by Ibn Hisham (4/257, 258) and elsewhere.
