The Messenger of Allah ﷺ held a race between horses that had been trained down for racing, starting from al-Hafya, with the finish line at Thaniyyat al-Wada. He also held a race between horses that had not been trained down, from the Thaniyyah to the mosque of Banu Zurayq. Abdullah was among those who took part in the race.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Prayer, Chapter, "May it be said, 'the masjid of the tribe of so-and-so'?", Hadith: 420, and Muslim in the Book of Command, Chapter on Racing Horses and Preparing Them for Racing, Hadith: 1870, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain, and it is found in Muwatta (Yahya): 2/467.
