The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever dies without having fought in battle and without ever having intended to do so in his heart, dies upon a branch of hypocrisy."
حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان المروزي أخبرنا ابن المبارك أخبرنا وهيب قال عبدة يعني ابن الورد أخبرني عمر بن محمد بن المنكدر عن سمي عن أبي صالح
عن النبي ﷺ قال من مات ولم يغز ولم يحدث نفسه بالغزو مات على شعبة من نفاق
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Leadership, chapter on the condemnation of one who dies without having fought in battle or having intended to do so, hadith no. 1910, from the narration of Abdullah bin Mubarak, through this same chain.
