The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no raiding party that goes out to fight in the cause of Allah and acquires spoils except that they have hastened two-thirds of their reward from the Hereafter, and one-third remains for them. But if they acquire no spoils, their reward is complete for them."
حدثنا عبيد الله بن عمر بن ميسرة حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد حدثنا حيوة وابن لهيعة قالا حدثنا أبو هانئ الخولاني أنه سمع أبا عبد الرحمن الحبلي يقول سمعت
قال رسول الله ﷺ ما من غازية تغزو في سبيل الله فيصيبون غنيمة إلا تعجلوا ثلثي أجرهم من الآخرة ويبقى لهم الثلث فإن لم يصيبوا غنيمة تم لهم أجرهم
Muslim narrated it in Sahih Muslim, Book of Command (al-Imarah), Chapter on the extent of the reward of one who goes on a military expedition and gains spoils versus one who does not gain spoils, hadith no. 1906, from the hadith of Abu Abdul-Rahman Abdullah bin Yazid al-Muqri, from Haywa, in the same manner.
