He said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The sanctity of the wives of those who fight in the cause of Allah is, to those who stay behind, like the sanctity of their own mothers. Any man among those who stay behind who is entrusted with the family of one who is out fighting and then betrays that trust will, on the Day of Resurrection, have the fighter set up before him, and it will be said to the fighter, 'This man took your place with your family, so take whatever you wish from his good deeds.'"Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to us and said, "What do you think he will do?"
Muslim reported it in the Book of Leadership, in the chapter on the sanctity of the wives of those engaged in jihad and the sin of betraying them regarding them, hadith no. 1897, from Saeed bin Mansur through this route, and it is also found in his Sunan, hadith no. 2331.
