The Prophet ﷺ permitted a person in a state of major ritual impurity to perform ablution before eating, drinking, or sleeping.
حدثنا موسى يعني ابن إسمعيل حدثنا حماد يعني ابن سلمة أخبرنا عطاء الخراساني عن يحيى بن يعمر
أن النبي ﷺ رخص للجنب إذا أكل أو شرب أو نام أن يتوضأ
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Its chain is daif due to a disconnection. Tirmidhi recorded it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on the permission mentioned for a person in a state of major ritual impurity to eat and sleep after performing wudu, hadith no. 613, from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, and he said, hasan sahih. The preceding hadith serves as a supporting witness for it.
