Musaddad bin Umayrah reported, and Wahb al-Asadi said, "I embraced Islam while I had eight wives. I mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Choose four of them.'"
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا هشيم ح و حدثنا وهب بن بقية أخبرنا هشيم عن ابن أبي ليلى عن حميضة بن الشمردل
مسدد ابن عميرة وقال وهب الأسدي قال أسلمت وعندي ثمان نسوة فذكرت ذلك للنبي ﷺ فقال النبي ﷺ اختر منهن أربعا
Its isnad is daif. Ibn Abdul-Barr narrated it in Tamhid (12/56) from Abu Dawud through the same route, see also the following hadith, no. 2242. Ibn Abu Layla is daif, as noted previously at hadith no. 1637, and Humaydah is obscure and unknown, with no one but Ibn Hibban validating him. The hadith has daif corroborating narrations.
