The Prophet ﷺ ... Ayesha said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave us the choice, and we chose him, and he did not count that as anything at all."Ayub said, "Kathir came to us, so I asked him about it, and he said, 'I have never narrated this.' I mentioned that to Qatada, and he said, 'He certainly did, but he has forgotten it.'"
حدثنا الحسن بن علي حدثنا سليمان بن حرب عن حماد بن زيد قال قلت لأيوب هل تعلم أحدا قال بقول الحسن في أمرك بيدك قال لا إلا شيئا حدثناه قتادة عن كثير مولى ابن سمرة عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ بنحوه قال أيوب فقدم علينا كثير فسألته فقال ما حدثت بهذا قط فذكرته لقتادة فقال بلى ولكنه نسي
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Tirmidhi reported it in the chapters on Divorce, chapter on what has been said regarding "your matter is in your own hands," hadith 1178, and Nasai, hadith 3449, from the hadith of Sulayman bin Harb with this chain. Tirmidhi said, "Gharib," and Nasai said, "Munkar." Qatada was a mudallis and he narrated it using "an," and Kathir is denounced regarding the narration attributed to him.
