The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave us a choice, and we chose him, and that was not counted as anything.
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا أبو عوانة عن الأعمش عن أبي الضحى عن مسروق
خيرنا رسول الله ﷺ فاخترناه فلم يعد ذلك شيئا
...etc., no. 5262, and Muslim, its takhrij: Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Divorce, chapter on one who gives his wives the choice of divorce, chapter explaining that a man's giving his wife the choice does not constitute divorce except with intention, no. 1477/28, from the hadith of Amash.
