The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married me when I was seven years old, Sulayman said, "or six," and consummated the marriage with me when I was nine.
Bukhari narrated it in "The Virtues of the Ansar," in the chapter "The Prophet's ﷺ marriage to Ayesha, her arrival in Madinah, and his consummation of the marriage with her," hadith 3896, and Muslim narrated it in "Marriage," in the chapter "The permissibility of a father marrying off his young virgin daughter," hadith 1422, both from the hadith of Hisham bin Urwa, with the same wording. Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zinad Madani also narrated it from Hisham with the same wording, as did Ahmad (6/118). Zuhri also narrated it from Urwa with the same wording. This hadith is mutawatir, and it is supported by the verse "and those who have not menstruated" [Talaq 65:4].
