Abdullah bin Masud was approached about the case of a man, with this report. The people kept coming back to him about it for a month, or he said several times.He said, "I rule in this case that she is entitled to a dowry equal to that of women like her, neither less nor more, and that she has the right of inheritance and must observe the waiting period. If this is correct, it is from Allah, and if it is wrong, it is from me and from Satan, and Allah and His Messenger are free of it."Then a group of men from Ashja stood up, among them al-Jarrah and Abu Sinan, and said, "Ibn Masud, we bear witness that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a ruling among us in the case of Birwa bint Washiq, whose husband was Hilal bin Mura al-Ashjai, exactly as you have ruled."Abdullah bin Masud rejoiced greatly when his ruling matched the ruling of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

أن عبد الله بن مسعود أتي في رجل بهذا الخبر قال فاختلفوا إليه شهرا أو قال مرات قال فإني أقول فيها إن لها صداقا كصداق نسائها لا وكس ولا شطط وإن لها الميراث وعليها العدة فإن يك صوابا فمن الله وإن يكن خطأ فمني ومن الشيطان والله ورسوله بريئان فقام ناس من أشجع فيهم الجراح وأبو سنان فقالوا يا ابن مسعود نحن نشهد أن رسول الله ﷺ قضاها فينا في بروع بنت واشق وإن زوجها هلال بن مرة الأشجعي كما قضيت قال ففرح عبد الله بن مسعود فرحا شديدا حين وافق قضاؤه قضاء رسول الله ﷺ
