She had been married to Ubaydullah bin Jahsh, who died in the land of Abyssinia. The Negus then married her to the Prophet ﷺ, paying her dowry on his behalf of four thousand, and sent her to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with Shurahbil bin Hasanah.
