Ibn Shihab related that Ali bin al-Husayn told him that when they arrived in Medina from Yazid bin Muawiya after the killing of Husayn bin Ali , Miswar bin Makhrama met him and said, "Do you have any need that you would like me to take care of?"I said to him, "No."He said, "Will you give me the sword of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? For I fear that these people may take it from you by force. By Allah, if you give it to me, no one will reach it until they have to take my life first. Ali bin Abu Talib
once proposed to marry the daughter of Abu Jahl while he was already married to Fatimah
. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressing the people about this matter from this very pulpit of his, and I was at that time approaching puberty. He said, 'Fatimah is a part of me, and I fear that she may be subjected to trial in her religion.' Then he mentioned a son-in-law of his from Banu Abd Shams and praised the way he had treated him as a relative by marriage, speaking well of him. He said, 'He spoke to me and was truthful with me, and he promised me and fulfilled his promise. I am not declaring lawful what is unlawful, nor unlawful what is lawful, but by Allah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah and the daughter of the enemy of Allah shall never be joined together in one place.'"
