When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made peace with the people of Hudaybiyyah, he made peace with them on the condition that the Muslims would not enter Mecca except with their weapons in their sheaths.I asked him, "What is meant by weapons in their sheaths?"He replied, "The scabbard with whatever it contains."
حدثنا أحمد بن حنبل حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن أبي إسحق قال سمعت
لما صالح رسول الله ﷺ أهل الحديبية صالحهم على أن لا يدخلوها إلا بجلبان السلاح فسألته ما جلبان السلاح قال القراب بما فيه
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Reconciliation, chapter "How to write: This is what so-and-so son of so-and-so has agreed to..." etc., hadith no. 2698, and Muslim in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions, chapter on the Treaty of Hudaybiya, hadith no. 1783, from the hadith of Shubah through this chain, and it is also found in Musnad Ahmad, 4/291.
