The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a man from the Aslam tribe and dispatched with him eighteen sacrificial camels.The man asked, "What do you think I should do if any of them becomes too exhausted to continue?"He replied, "Slaughter it, then dip its sandal in its blood and strike it on its flank, but neither you nor any of your companions" or he said "any of your traveling party may eat from it."
حدثنا سليمان بن حرب ومسدد قالا حدثنا حماد ح و حدثنا مسدد حدثنا عبد الوارث وهذا حديث مسدد عن أبي التياح عن موسى بن سلمة
بعث رسول الله ﷺ فلانا الأسلمي وبعث معه بثمان عشرة بدنة فقال أرأيت إن أزحف علي منها شيء قال تنحرها ثم تصبغ نعلها في دمها ثم اضربها على صفحتها ولا تأكل منها أنت ولا أحد من أصحابك أو قال من أهل رفقتك
Muslim narrated it in Hajj, chapter on what should be done with the sacrificial animal if it becomes disabled on the way, hadith no. 1325, from the hadith of Abu Tayah with this chain.
