The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave us permission regarding a stick, a whip, a rope, and similar items, that a man may pick them up and make use of them.

[Its isnad is daif]. Bayhaqi (6/195) narrated it from the hadith of Abu Dawud through the same route.Abu Zubayr did not explicitly state that he heard it directly, and it has a defect as noted by Ibn Adi (6/2353).
