When the verse "You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love" [Al Imran 3:92] was revealed, Abu Talha said, "Messenger of Allah, I see that our Lord is asking us to give from our wealth. I call you to witness that I have given my land at Ariha for the sake of Allah."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Give it to your relatives."So he divided it between Hassan bin Thabit and Ubayy bin Kaab.
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on zakat, in the section on the merit of spending and giving charity to relatives, etc., hadith 998, from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama through the same chain. It also has another route in Bukhari, hadith 1461, 4555.
