He asked, "Messenger of Allah, which charity is the best?"He replied, "The effort of the one with little, and begin with those you support."
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد ويزيد بن خالد بن موهب الرملي قالا حدثنا الليث عن أبي الزبير عن يحيى بن جعدة
أنه قال يا رسول الله أي الصدقة أفضل قال جهد المقل وابدأ بمن تعول
Its isnad is sahih. Ahmad reported it in 2/358 from the hadith of Layth bin Saad, with this same chain. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, 2444, 2451, and Hakim graded it as meeting the standard of Muslim, 1/414, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
