I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention something similar to this account. He said to him, meaning to Abu Hurairah, "What then is the right owed concerning camels?"He replied, "You give away the choice ones, you lend out the milk-rich ones, you loan the strong-backed ones for riding, you lend the stud for breeding, and you give of their milk to drink."
حدثنا الحسن بن علي حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا شعبة عن قتادة عن أبي عمر الغداني
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ نحو هذه القصة فقال له يعني لأبي هريرة فما حق الإبل قال تعطي الكريمة وتمنح الغزيرة وتفقر الظهر وتطرق الفحل وتسقي اللبن
[Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Nasai narrated it in the chapter on zakat, in the section on the severity regarding withholding zakat, no. 2444, from the hadith of Qatada with this wording. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2322, as did Hakim, 1/403, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
