Ibn Ubayd, in his version of the hadith, mentioned that his name was not originally Bashir, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ named him Bashir.He said, "We said, 'The collectors of zakat treat us unfairly. May we conceal a portion of our wealth equal to what they take from us unjustly?'He replied, 'No.'"

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ahmad reported it: 5/83, from the hadith of Hammad bin Zayd, with this wording. Part of the hadith has a corroborating narration coming up: 3230. Daysam is obscure, no one other than Ibn Hibban rated him as reliable.
