To proceed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us to pay zakat on what we set aside for sale.

[Its chain is daif] Bayhaqi related it in 4/146, 147 from the hadith of Abu Dawud through the same route. Khubayb is unknown, and Jafar bin Saad was declared daif by the majority.This is supported by the hadith, "Pay the zakat on your wealth," which Tirmidhi related, no. 616, with a hasan chain, and its basis is found in Abu Dawud, no. 1955.Allah Almighty says, "Spend from the good things you have earned" [Baqarah 2:267].
