A pair of plain black leather socks was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he wore them, then performed ablution and wiped over them.Musaddad reported this from Dilham bin Salih.
[Sahih] Reported by Tirmidhi, in the Book of Manners, chapter on what has been said about black leather socks, no. 2820, from the hadith of Waki with this wording, and he said, "Hasan." Ibn Majah also reported it, no. 549, 3620. 3620 Dilham bin Salih is daif (according to Taqrib), but the basic content of the hadith has supporting narrations.
