The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, and decrepit old age. I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death."
حدثنا مسدد أخبرنا المعتمر قال سمعت أبي قال سمعت
كان رسول الله ﷺ يقول اللهم إني أعوذ بك من العجز والكسل والجبن والبخل والهرم وأعوذ بك من عذاب القبر وأعوذ بك من فتنة المحيا والممات
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jihad, Chapter on Seeking Refuge from Cowardice, hadith 2823, from Musaddad, and Muslim in the Book of Remembrance and Supplication, Chapter on Seeking Refuge from Incapacity, Laziness, and Other Things, hadith 2706, from the hadith of Mutamir bin Sulayman, with this same chain.
