He asked the Prophet ﷺ in how many days he should complete the recitation of the Quran.The Prophet ﷺ said, "In forty days."Then he said, "In a month."Then he said, "In twenty."Then he said, "In fifteen."Then he said, "In ten."Then he said, "In seven," and he did not go below seven.
حدثنا نوح بن حبيب أخبرنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن سماك بن الفضل عن وهب بن منبه
أنه سأل النبي ﷺ في كم يقرأ القرآن قال في أربعين يوما ثم قال في شهر ثم قال في عشرين ثم قال في خمس عشرة ثم قال في عشر ثم قال في سبع لم ينزل من سبع
[Its isnad is hasan] Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Recitations, Chapter: In How Many Days Should the Quran Be Recited?, no. 2947, from the hadith of Mamar, with this wording, and he said, "Hasan gharib." It is also in Musaddaf Abdul-Razzaq, no. 5957.
