The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray thirteen rakahs at night, then when he heard the call to the dawn prayer, he would pray two brief rakahs.
حدثنا القعنبي عن مالك عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي بالليل ثلاث عشرة ركعة ثم يصلي إذا سمع النداء بالصبح ركعتين خفيفتين
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on tahajjud, section on what is recited in the two rakahs of Fajr, hadith no. 1170, from the hadith of Malik through this chain, and it is found in Muwatta (Yahya's recension), 1/121.
