Yunus reported,

He asked Ibn Shihab about the declaration the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to make on Friday, and he related it as follows."Praise belongs to Allah. We seek His help and His forgiveness, and we take refuge with Allah from the evils of our own selves. Whomever Allah guides, none can lead astray, and whomever He leaves astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, whom He sent with the truth as a bearer of good news and a warner before the coming of the Hour. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has been rightly guided, and whoever disobeys them harms only himself and does no harm to Allah at all."Ibn Shihab added the words, "and whoever disobeys them has gone astray. We ask Allah our Lord to make us among those who obey Him and obey His Messenger, who pursue what pleases Him and avoid what angers Him, for we exist only through Him and for Him."
