When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ settled into his place on Friday, he said, "Be seated."Ibn Masud heard this and sat down right where he was at the door of the mosque. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him and said, "Come forward, Abdullah bin Masud."

Its chain is hasan, Bayhaqi 22/218 reported it from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj with the same wording, and his narration from Ata is strong. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (Hadith 1780), as did Hakim, who said it meets the standard of the two Shaykhs, 1/283, 284, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
