Ibn Umar called the prayer on a cold and windy night, then announced, "Pray in your dwellings."He then said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to instruct the muezzin, when it was a cold or rainy night, to say, 'Pray in your dwellings.'"
حدثنا القعنبي عن مالك
أن ابن عمر يعني أذن بالصلاة في ليلة ذات برد وريح فقال ألا صلوا في الرحال ثم قال إن رسول الله ﷺ كان يأمر المؤذن إذا كانت ليلة باردة أو ذات مطر يقول ألا صلوا في الرحال
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan, Chapter on the Permission [to Delay Attendance] in Rain, and the Reason Being to Pray in One's Lodging, hadith no. 666, and Muslim in the Book of Travelers' Prayer, Chapter on Praying in One's Lodging in Rain, hadith no. 697, both from the hadith of Malik through this chain, and it is also in Muwatta (Yahya's version, 1/73) and Qanabi's version, p. 93.
