Azraq bin Qays reported,

An imam of ours, known by the kunya Abu Ramtha, led us in prayer and then said, "I prayed this prayer," or "a prayer like this one," "with the Prophet ﷺ." He said, "Abu Bakr and Umar used to stand in the front row on his right side."There was a man who had caught the opening takbir of the prayer. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ prayed, then gave the salam to his right and to his left until we could see the whiteness of his cheeks. Then he turned away just as Abu Ramtha turned, meaning he himself turned in the same manner. The man who had caught the opening takbir with him stood up to pray additional units. Umar leapt toward him, grabbed him by the shoulder, shook him, and said, "Sit down. The People of the Book were only destroyed because there was no separation between their prayers."The Prophet ﷺ raised his gaze and said, "Allah has guided you to what is right, son of al-Khattab."
