The Prophet ﷺ said, "Fasting the day of Arafah, I expect from Allah that it expiates the year before it and the year after it."
حدثنا قتيبة وأحمد بن عبدة الضبي قالا حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن غيلان بن جرير عن عبد الله بن معبد الزماني
أن النبي ﷺ قال صيام يوم عرفة إني أحتسب على الله أن يكفر السنة التي قبله والسنة التي بعده
Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Fasting, chapter on the recommendation of fasting three days each month, etc., hadith no. 1162, from Qutayba with this wording at greater length, and it will come again at no. 752.There is also a narration on this subject from Abu Saeed [Abd bin Humayd: 967].
