Aisha said, "Hafsah and I were fasting when some food was brought to us that we found tempting, so we ate from it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in, and Hafsah, being very much her father's daughter, spoke up before me."She said, "Messenger of Allah, we were fasting, but some food was brought to us that we found tempting, so we ate from it."He said, "Make up another day in its place."
[Its chain is daif]. Ahmad narrated it in 6:263 from Kathir bin Hisham through this route, and it is also in Sunan al-Kubra of Nasai, no. 3291, from the route of Kathir. Abu Dawud narrated it, no. 2457, from another route from Urwa through this route. Jafar is truthful but errs in the hadith of Zuhri (Taqrib), and his teacher did not explicitly state that he heard it, even if the chain to him is sound, rather he heard it from unknown narrators. The hadith has other daif routes. The hadith of Malik is in Muwatta, 1:306 (Yahya).
