I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say in his sermon during the Farewell Pilgrimage, "No woman is to spend anything from her husband's house except with his permission."Someone asked, "Messenger of Allah, not even food?"He replied, "That is the most valuable of our possessions."

سمعت رسول الله ﷺ في خطبته عام حجة الوداع يقول لا تنفق امرأة شيئا من بيت زوجها إلا بإذن زوجها قيل يا رسول الله ولا الطعام قال ذاك أفضل أموالنا
Its isnad is hasan. Abu Dawud also narrated it in the Book of Business Transactions, chapter on liability for borrowed items, no. 3565, from the hadith of Ismail bin Ayyash with the same wording.On this subject there are also narrations from Saad bin Abu Waqqas [Abu Dawud, no. 1686], Asma bint Abu Bakr [to come, no. 1960], Abu Hurairah [Bukhari, no. 5360, and Muslim, no. 1026], Abdullah bin Amr [Abu Dawud, no. 3547], and Ayesha [to come, nos. 671, 672].
