She was among those who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said, "Messenger of Allah, the poor man stands at my door, but I find nothing to give him."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "If you find nothing to give him except a burnt hoof, place it in his hand."
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا الليث بن سعد عن سعيد بن أبي سعيد عن عبد الرحمن بن بجيد
وكانت ممن بايع رسول الله ﷺ أنها قالت يا رسول الله إن المسكين ليقوم على بابي فما أجد له شيئا أعطيه إياه فقال لها رسول الله ﷺ إن لم تجدي شيئا تعطينه إياه إلا ظلفا محرقا فادفعيه إليه في يده
[Its chain of transmission is sahih]. Abu Dawud also narrated it, Zakat, chapter on the right of the one who asks, no. 1667, from Qutayba with the same wording. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2473, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 824, and Hakim, 12/417, and Dhahabi.There are also narrations on this subject from Ali [Abu Dawud, no. 1666], Husayn bin Ali [Abu Dawud, no. 1665], Abu Hurairah [Bukhari, no. 2566, and Muslim, no. 1030], and Abu Umama [Tabarani in Al-Kabir, 8/295, no. 7968].
