The Prophet ﷺ said, "The prayers of the night and day are in pairs of two."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا شعبة عن يعلى بن عطاء عن علي الأزدي
عن النبي ﷺ قال صلاة الليل والنهار مثنى مثنى
[Its isnad is hasan] Nasai reported it in 3/227, no. 1667, "Qiyam al-Layl," chapter "How the night prayer is performed," from Muhammad bin Bashshar with the same wording. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 1210, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 636, along with Bukhari, Bayhaqi, Khattabi, Nawawi, and others. Daraqutni graded it daif, as did Abu Dawud in his Masail, p. 310, along with Ahmad, Aqeeli, and Ibn Taymiya. The hadith has corroborating narrations in Marifat Ulum al-Hadith by Hakim and elsewhere.
