The Prophet ﷺ used to perform ablution before every prayer.I asked, "And what did you used to do?"He replied, "We would pray all the prayers with a single ablution, as long as we did not break it."
Its isnad is daif. Abu Dawud narrated it in the chapter on purification, in the section on a man renewing his wudu without having a reason requiring it, hadith no. 62, from the hadith of Afriqi, with this same chain. Bayhaqi said, 1/162, "Abdul-Rahman bin Ziyad, that is, Afriqi, is not strong." Hisham's statement was narrated by Ibn Adi in Al-Kamil (15914), by Aqeeli (2/332, no. 929), and by Khatib (10/216), from the hadith of Ali bin Abdullah Madini, with this same chain, and it is confirmed to be from him. As for Ahmad's statement that it is sahih, it is confirmed to be from him.
