The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is a devil for ablution called al-Walhan, so beware of the whisperings concerning water."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا أبو داود الطيالسي حدثنا خارجة بن مصعب عن يونس بن عبيد عن الحسن عن عتي بن ضمرة السعدي
عن النبي ﷺ قال إن للوضوء شيطانا يقال له الولهان فاتقوا وسواس الماء
[Its isnad is very daif]. Ibn Majah also narrated it in the Book of Purification, chapter on what has been said regarding moderation etc., no. 421, and Ibn Khuzayma, no. 122, from Muhammad bin Bashshar with the same wording. It is also found in Musnad Tayalisi, no. 547. Kharija is discarded [matruk], and he conceals his sources [mudallis], transmitting from liars.There is also a report on this subject from Abdullah bin Amr [Ibn Majah, no. 425, and Ahmad, 2/221] and from Abdullah bin Mughafal [Abu Dawud, no. 96].
