Ati was asked about the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ prayer for rain. He came to him and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out wearing humble clothing, in a state of humility and supplication, until he reached the prayer ground. He did not deliver a sermon like this sermon of yours, but he kept on supplicating, beseeching, and proclaiming Allah's greatness, and he prayed two units of prayer just as he used to pray on Eid."
[Its chain is hasan]. Abu Dawud also narrated it in the Book of the Prayer for Rain, chapter on the collected chapters of the prayer for rain and its subsections, no. 1165, from the hadith of Hatim, with the same wording. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 1405, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 603, and Nawawi.
