The hadith of Muaz is a hasan gharib hadith. Qutayba alone narrated it, and we do not know of anyone else who reported it from Layth. The hadith of Layth from Yazid bin Abu Habib from Abu Tufayl from Muaz is a gharib hadith.What is well known among the people of knowledge is the hadith of Muaz transmitted through Abu Zubayr from Abu Tufayl from Muaz, that the Prophet ﷺ combined the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers, during the expedition of Tabuk. It was narrated by Qurra bin Khalid, Sufyan Thawri, Malik, and several others from Abu Zubayr al-Makki.Shafii holds the view of this hadith. Ahmad and Ishaq both say there is no harm in combining two prayers during travel within the time of one of them.
