The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is a duty upon every Muslim to bathe on Friday, and let each one apply some perfume from what his family has. If he finds none, then water itself will serve as his perfume."
حدثنا علي بن الحسن الكوفي حدثنا أبو يحيى إسمعيل بن إبراهيم التيمي عن يزيد بن أبي زياد عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى
قال رسول الله ﷺ حق على المسلمين أن يغتسلوا يوم الجمعة وليمس أحدهم من طيب أهله فإن لم يجد فالماء له طيب
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ahmad narrated it: 4/282, 283, from the hadith of Yazid bin Abu Ziyad, and he is daif and a mudallis. There is also a report on this subject from Abu Saeed [Bukhari, no. 858, and Muslim, no. 846], and from a shaykh of the Ansar [Ahmad: 4/34, 5/363].
