The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver his sermons leaning against a palm trunk. When a pulpit was made for him and he began using it, the trunk moaned with longing until he came to it and embraced it, and it became quiet.
حدثنا أبو حفص عمرو بن علي الفلاس الصيرفي حدثنا عثمان بن عمر ويحيى بن كثير أبو غسان العنبري قالا حدثنا معاذ بن العلاء عن نافع
أن النبي ﷺ كان يخطب إلى جذع فلما اتخذ النبي ﷺ المنبر حن الجذع حتى أتاه فالتزمه فسكن
Bukhari also narrated it in the Book of Virtues, chapter on the signs of prophethood in Islam, hadith no. 3583, from the hadith of Uthman bin Umar and Yahya bin Kathir, with the same wording.On this subject there are also narrations from Anas [to come at 3627], Jabir [Bukhari, nos. 3584, 3585, on the yearning of the palm trunk], Sahl bin Saad [Bukhari, no. 917, and Muslim, no. 45/544], Ubayy bin Kaab [Ibn Majah, no. 1414, its chain is hasan and Busiri graded it hasan], Ibn Abbas [Ibn Majah, no. 1415, its chain is sahih and Busiri graded it sahih], and Umm Salama [Tabarani in Al-Kabir, 23/255, no. 524].
