While Umar bin Khattab was delivering the Friday sermon, a man from among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ entered. Umar asked, "What hour is this?"The man replied, "I only just heard the call to prayer, and I did no more than perform ablution."Umar said, "Ablution as well? You know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded the full bath."Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Abban narrated this to us, who said Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us from Muamar from Zuhri.

بينما عمر بن الخطاب يخطب يوم الجمعة إذ دخل رجل من أصحاب النبي ﷺ فقال أية ساعة هذه فقال ما هو إلا أن سمعت النداء وما زدت على أن توضأت قال والوضوء أيضا وقد علمت أن رسول الله ﷺ أمر بالغسل حدثنا بذلك أبو بكر محمد بن أبان حدثنا عبد الرزاق عن معمر عن الزهري
