The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said, "Allah has provided you with a prayer that is better for you than red camels. It is the witr prayer, which Allah has appointed for you in the time between the evening prayer and the break of dawn."
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا الليث بن سعد عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب عن عبد الله بن راشد الزوفي عن عبد الله بن أبي مرة الزوفي
خرج علينا رسول الله ﷺ فقال إن الله أمدكم بصلاة هي خير لكم من حمر النعم الوتر جعله الله لكم فيما بين صلاة العشاء إلى أن يطلع الفجر
[Its chain is daif]. Abu Dawud also narrated it in the book of Witr, chapter on the recommendation of Witr, hadith no. 1418, from Qutayba with the same wording. Ibn Hibban said, its chain is disconnected and its text is baseless. Hakim graded it sahih (1/306), and Dhahabi (!) agreed.The hadith has sahih corroborating narrations in Tabarani's Musnad Shamiyin (Nasb Raya 2/111) and in Ahmad (6/7) and elsewhere, without the phrase, "It is better for you than red camels."On this topic there are also narrations from Abu Hurairah [Ahmad 2/443 and Ibn Khuzayma, no. 1071], Abdullah bin Amr [Ahmad 2/180, 208], Burayda [Abu Dawud, no. 1419], and Abu Basra Ghifari [Ahmad 6/7, 397].
