The Prophet ﷺ used to pray four rakahs before Dhuhr and two rakahs after it.
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا أبو عامر العقدي حدثنا سفيان عن أبي إسحق عن عاصم بن ضمرة
كان النبي ﷺ يصلي قبل الظهر أربعا وبعدها ركعتين
[Hasan] Ibn Majah also recorded it in the Book of Establishing Prayers, the chapter on what is recommended of voluntary prayer during the day, hadith no. 1161, and Nasai, 2/119, hadith no. 875, from the hadith of Abu Ishaq with the same wording. Ibn Khuzayma and Tirmidhi graded it sahih, hadith nos. 598, 599. The hadith has corroborating narrations, and also appears at hadith no. 1211. Sufyan here is Thawri, and Shuba followed him in narrating this chapter's topic, from Ayesha [mentioned earlier at 414] and Umm Habiba [mentioned earlier at 415]. As for the statement of Sufyan Thawri, "We used to recognize the merit..." and so on, its chain of transmission is sahih.
